Images good enough to eat

Master Food photography boards were created for food photography, small products and carefully styled tabletop sets. Rigid, lightweight and practical, they provide a smooth surface without folds or creases and help you prepare an attractive set quickly.

At Pastelowe Marzenia, we combine our experience in backdrop production with a genuine passion for photography. While developing the Master Food collection, we worked with Marta Klim, who prepared the dishes and tested the boards in real food photography sessions. This allowed us to assess not only the appearance of each design, but also its practical performance.

The collection includes over 100 designs. They were selected to enhance the colours of food, create the right mood and help communicate flavour visually—from light, natural surfaces to darker and more atmospheric compositions.

01 · Stable surface

The rigid foam stays flat, making it easy to arrange plates, props and small products.

02 · Easy cleaning

The surface can be wiped with a damp cloth or sponge, which is especially useful when working with food.

03 · Reusable

The durable print is abrasion-resistant and will not peel or smudge when the board is used correctly.

Why choose a rigid foam board instead of fabric?

Food photography usually takes place on a compact set, with the dish positioned directly on the selected surface. For this type of work, a rigid board is particularly practical: it stays smooth, requires no ironing and immediately provides a level base for food and props.

When you work with sauces, drinks, fruit or desserts, being able to clean the set quickly is another important advantage. The board can be wiped with a damp cloth or sponge and used again for the next composition.

How do the boards perform under different lighting?

The print reproduces colour and texture in both daylight and flash photography. The final result will always depend on the position of the light source, the camera angle and your exposure settings. When flash hits the board at certain angles, slight reflections may appear; changing the angle of the light or the position of the board will usually solve the problem.

A tip from our studio

Take a test shot of the board before building the complete arrangement. This lets you check the colour, direction of light and any reflections before you add the dish and props.

Not only for food photography

Although the collection was designed for food photography, Master Food boards also work well for product images. Use them to photograph cosmetics, jewellery, handmade items, decorations and other small products for online shops and social media.

A single design can produce many different results. By changing the direction of the light, the framing, the colours of the props or the product placement, you can create a series of varied images without rebuilding the whole set.

These images show the boards in real use rather than as digital designs on a screen. Marta Klim prepared the dishes and tested the collection from the perspective of a food photographer. Practical sessions like these help us assess the scale of the design, its colours and the usability of the surface.

How to work with a Master Food board

  • Match the design to the subject. Light surfaces create a fresh, airy look, while darker boards produce a more atmospheric result.
  • Test the lighting first. Check the result before arranging every element of the set.
  • Keep props under control. The board should support the main subject rather than compete with it.
  • Clean the surface after the session. The board will then be ready for its next use.
